Investment management

Investment management refers to the management of assets for achieving specified investment goals. Investors may be institutions such as insurance companies, organisations, pension funds etc. They may also be private investors those who are part of collective investment schemes, investment contracts etc.

Asset management is a term that is used to refer the investment management of collective investments. Similarly there is also a generic term called as fund management. It is used to refer all forms investments such as intuitional as well as private investment management.

Sometimes investment managers those who specialise in advisory or discretionary management for private investors call themselves as wealth managers or portfolio managers. Investment management involves a gamut of services such as financial analysis, asset selection, stock selection, and investment monitoring or plan implementation. The investment management business involves employment of professional fund managers, research, settlement, marketing, preparing reports for clients, internal auditing etc
