Collective investment scheme

A collective investment scheme is an investment plan that involves participating in wider range of investments along with other people. In this way, the investment costs are shared by many investors. This terminology has various usages. It is sometimes called as managed funds, funds or even mutual funds (though it has specific meaning).

Collective investment schemes play an important part in establishing larger markets around the world. These investments are responsible for a considerable portion of trading on major stock exchanges.

Collective investments aim at a wide range of investments. These investments are targeted on specific geographic regions such as Europe, Canada etc, and specified themes like technology. There is a bias towards the domestic market as a result of national self -interest, familiarity and absence of currency risk. But it depends upon the country. These are specific investment aims based on which funds are chosen apart from their past performance, fees and much more.
