Real Estate Down in California

In California the 2007 year is predicted to be bad for those looking to buy or sell a home. The prices of construction, sales and prices are expected to continue to fall. Beacon Economics says they expect to see foreclosures going up again in 2007 and that prices will continue to slowly drop.

With the California real estate going down how can you protect your home investment? There are several things you can do to improve the value of your home in 2007 as the market drops to help protect your investment.

Before making improvements you should take a look at the other houses around yours. Learn what your neighbors are focusing on so you can improve the same areas and add value to your home. This way you won't waste time and money on improvements that aren't going to make a difference to buyers. Even when you know what you need to improve it is a good idea to stick only with minor improvements if you plan on selling.

If you need to remodel consider doing as much of the work as possible yourself. While this may mean having to do more work and take up more time, it can be a cheaper investment than hiring someone to do it. However, if it is a project you aren't familiar with then you should hire a professional rather than risk doing it yourself.
